TOOL VAN

This design project took over a year from start to delivery. Graphics for a full vehicle wrap had to be designed AT SCALE (120 dpi), making for slow and tedious work, but extremely rewarding when the finished product arrived.

In 2011 I began work on the ambitious project to design a full vehicle wrap for a Ford Sprinter utility van, which would be used for local sales calls and applications demonstrations within a fixed radius from its home location in Chicago, IL.

Working with the design and branding firm formerly known as GFXI to plan the logistics and application of the wrap, it was my job to create the template and design the full-scale graphics for this project. We planned the launch to be timed exactly with our 2012 National Sales Meeting, and the simultaneous launch of our first official TOOL MANUAL, a collection of product catalogs comprising a strategic and educational approach to product and application selection.

After something like 8 months of design, review, production, and installation, I finally got to see the end result, and was stupendously happy with how it turned out. I was sure to include branding and graphics on all sides of the vehicle, including the roof, so that it could be identified from any angle or vantage point.

One of my greatest challenges as a designer and branding professional, and I would also consider it one of my greatest successes.
